SoHo SITE Redesign
About Hook & Loop
Hook & Loop is the creative agency that services Infor (one of the world's largest enterprise application tech companies). The Product Experience team worked to bring many of Infor's products into the cloud and create a consistent user experience using a design system called SoHo (think Google Material Design, Shopify, or Bootstrap).
Project Summary
I worked as the sole Information Architect on the team. Driven by research I conducted, the SoHo site redesign project was to replace the current soho.infor.com site.
User Interviews (Where it all Started)
We did over 30 company-wide user interviews within a week's time. I created the test plan, ran interviews, and compiled and analyzed all the data. From this analysis, I created job stories, personas, and a series of recommendations.
Stakeholder Interviews
I presented the findings to the stakeholder team. Knowing that working with such a large team would be difficult, we prioritized some top themes to give the project focus and outline stakeholder requirements.
User Stories
Based on the analysis of the results, I created user stories and identified four personas.
Some of the personas we identified in the results analysis.
OOUX Design
Now that the personas and user stories were defined, we did an OOUX (Object Oriented UX) exercise to define the relationships between the objects in the site. After a lot of research, here is where the Team landed.
Our OOUX mapping. The colors represent different objects and tech stacks.
User Flows
Once the OOUX architecture was complete, we created user flows to address the user stories that our personas would perform in the system.
A sample of the user flows we created. Note that the yellow and purple paths in the flows here directly correlate to the colors in the OOUX architecture.
DoGo Mapping
Once the user flows were created based on the OOUX architecture, we did DoGo mapping to outline what you can Do and where you can Go for each page type.
Our DoGo map. Note that the yellow and pink colors used here correlate to the yellow and purple colors (respectively) in the OOUX and user flows.
MVP
To start delivering value to our users as quickly as possible, the MVP would offer the existing content, using the rich information architecture to provide room to go grow into something bigger and better as new content was created.
Our planned MVP.
Wireframes
Once the MVP was planned I worked on creating wireframes for each page type, which can be seen here.
User Testing
We identified a few key screens to do some light usability testing with some of the participants from the original user interviews.
Proof of Concept to MVP
After usability testing and approval on the wireframes, the Developers began by building a Proof of Concept (POC) site which would ultimately turn into the MVP. This POC was shown at our company's annual conference.
Here is a content index screen from the POC.
Implementation
The site is now up, available to Infor designers and engineers to use. It’s open to the public, so you can use it too. Check it out here.
